Art Therapy with Ellen
Offering 1-1 online Art therapy
to help you navigate life with chronic illness
Welcome! I'm so glad you are here.
If you are living with chronic illness. anxiety, fatigue or pain then you are in the right place. I am an HCPC registered Art psychotherapist with over 15 years clinical experience. I am based in Northern Ireland but offer online 1-1 sessions to adults with chronic health conditions.
Living with a chronic illness is hard isn't it? Alongside physical issues such as pain or fatigue, you may have times when you feel frustrated, sad or worried. Navigating the unpredictability of illness and adjusting to new health limits can make life feel a bit smaller too.
I'm sure I don't need to rhyme off all the ways chronic illness may impact life. You know all too well what it is like for you.
Having a chronic illness diagnosis myself, I too know the struggle and the limits that illness can force you to live within. It isn't always terrible but it isn't easy either.
If you have been thinking of starting therapy for a while but life and illness have gotten in the way, I understand.
My online art therapy has you specifically in mind.
I would love to help you find the choice, regulation and creative spark that art therapy can offer.

So go check out the rest of my website and then...
if you'd like and when you are ready,
I'll be here.
Your art can help you,
if you let it.

Art therapy is a good place to look at some of the ways your life has been impacted by your health.
Whether its a recent diagnosis or something you have managed for years, having a chronic illness can add extra challenges to life. We can look at these together in a gentle, creative way.
Dealing with physical symptoms or flare ups can mean that your mental and emotional wellbeing can sometimes get pushed down the list of priorities. We can make time each week for how you are actually feeling.
Our sessions can explore:
-
the stress of having to manage health issues on top of everything else.
-
how to set boundaries with ourselves and others, especially when others don't fully understand.
-
how difficult it can be to adjust to treatments but no cure.
-
any worries you might have about the future.
Perhaps you can relate to one or more of the following:
-
feeling stuck
-
relationship or friendship difficulties
-
loss
-
struggling to sleep
-
lack of confidence
-
avoidance
-
social anxiety
-
self image
-
anger
I know that it is frustrating to be changed by illness and sometimes it doesn't feel fair.
I also appreciate that chronic illness it isn't the only thing that defines you. There are times we all need a safe place to look at mixed up feelings.
No matter what you bring to our sessions I will encourage your creativity because honestly, it can help in a way that words cannot reach.
